Description

Respond to the discussion below:

There are many research methodologies that serve as a blueprint for conducting a study. Qualitative methods are subjective and include descriptive, correlational, quasi-experimental and experimental studies. Quantitative methods are objective and considered primarily exploratory research. Using mix method research allows the researcher to accumulate a broader amount of data. There are both advantages and disadvantages when using mix method research.

Advantages

-Allows the researcher to equalize out the possible weaknesses that each method would possess independently.

-Due to the ability to collect data that is all-inclusive, increasingly more supportive and comprehensive, it permits for a complete perspective to be collected and more validity to the results.

-Mixed method research also appeals to a larger demographic of people due to its use of both statistical data/numbers as well as perspective analysis.

-A decrease in researcher bias.

Disadvantages

-Mix methods studies are complex to plan and conduct.

-Typically, a researcher specializes in either qualitative or quantitative and attempting to complete a study utilizing both methods could be a challenge for the researcher.

-It can be challenging to present the collected data to the population so that it easily understood and comprehensible.
