Readiness for Learning
Dear parent(s)/guardian(s),
Hi there! My name is Jonathan Uribe, I am glad to have your child in my class this year.
I’d like to tell you a bit about myself. I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree from
Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. and am pending to get my Master’s degree in
Education from Grand Canyon University. I have been a teacher aide/substitute/teacher in
Kendall Demonstration Elementary School in D.C. for seven years. Somehow, it led me
here and is happily to teach this year with your child along with other students.
We will have a great year ahead of us. We will be learning a lot as much as we can have
fun. It is the abilities for them to go on the curiosity of what they are able to see things in
our regular days, they might want to know and can start learning to name those things.
The key activities of the developmental stages will include the pictures of many different
things that are very familiar in our world everyday. They will also include group
activities where the students can learn from each other’s experiences, identities, cultures,
environments and else so the way they can be comfort with a diversity taste. They will
have a few after-school project activities with your approvals and permissions; they will
build their self-esteem and self-confidence. There will be more assistance to whomever is
struggling with their abilities.
I strongly believe that there will be no child left behind in my class because I will make

sure that every child in my class feels comfortable with whom and what they are
succeeding in their own ways.

Readiness for Learning
Identifying students’ readiness for learning guides teachers to create learning activities and strategies that
are unique to the various aspects of elementary students’ approaches to learning. It is equally important for
families to be aware of readiness indicators as they have an opportunity to encourage learning in the home
environment.
For this assignment, write a letter to the parents of your future students that you will have the following
year, describing readiness for learning indicators, applicable to a specific age, grade level, and
developmental stage. This letter would be given to parents at the end of the school year to help students
over the summer get prepared for the following school year. Be sure to clearly define the key goals for
success in preparation for the grade level (K-8) the student will be entering.
The letter to parents should include:

An introduction.
A description of the developmental stage related to the grade level of the students.
How to identify readiness for learning indicators applicable to grade level.
Key activities and strategies to get students ready for learning the next year.
Support readiness indicators and selected activities with major principles, concepts, and learning
theories.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student
Success Center. An abstract is not required.
This assignment uses a rubric. Review the rubric prior to beginning the assignment to become familiar with
the expectations for successful completion.
You are required to submit this assignment to LopesWrite.

Readiness for Learning
Dear Jonathan Uribe,
You have a good introduction. Overall, your main message is understandable. However, you
can improve your letter by doing the following: (1) write clearer, (2) describe more the
developmental stage, (3) mention how readiness can be identified, (4) explain in more detail the
activities for the children; (5) support your activities by citing major principles, concepts, and
learning theories.
Write clearer. Some of your words sound awkward and vague. Please read out loud your
words slowly and patiently. Also , you can ask someone else to read out loud your words. Pay close
attention to anything sounding odd.
Describe more the developmental stage related to the elementary-school level. You only
briefly mentioned that there is a developmental stage. In fact, you only wrote one sentence about it.
Please describe it more.
Mention how readiness can be identified. In other words, you must list the learning
indicators applicable to elementary kids. This is important for the parents or guardians to know.
Explain in more detail the activities for the children. Talk about the activities and strategies
parents or guardians can use to get students ready for learning the next year. Be specific.
Support your activities and strategies by citing major principles, concepts, and learning
theories. Remember, the readiness indicators must also be suppored by these principles, concepts,
and learning theories. Do not make this too complicated however. You do not want to overwhelm
your audience.
I hope this information helps!
Sincerely,
Joliette Re
