The discussions are the heart beat of this course. It is imperative that you give your best in the
discussions, because they govern our learning through out the week. Here is an assessment rubric
provided for you so that you are clear as to how you will be scored for your discussion posts.

1. Answered the discussion question by replying to the post in a substantive manner
that shows evidence of critical thinking and analysis.
2. Replied to post citing theory and or current research to support opinions and
thoughts.
3. Replied to post on time (Will get partial credit up to 2 days late- past that is no
credit)
4. Provided additional or new insight through your response.
5. Proper mechanics grammar and APA used in post.

Participation is essential in this course, and the goal is that you actively engage on multiple days in the
week, for maximum learning, growth, and development. The following rubric will help you to
understand how you will be scored in participation so that you can strive to be an active participant
throughout the course. *Note that to get full points you will always have need to have a minimum of 5
total substantive posts per week, 2 of which are you personal replies to the discussion questions.
