Scenario Selection
The current course project will focus on the office presentation scenario. The project will
focus on a company establishing presence in a predominantly Islamic state, particularly in the
Middle East. Understanding Islam will be instrumental in the success of the initiative and
customer relations. The project will make a presentation to employees from IT, HR, sales and
marketing on how well to adapt their presence in a new culture to guarantee success of the
expansion.
Reasons
The office presentation offers an opportunity to explore a religion deeper and its relation
to the business environment. Considering the impact that religion and culture in general have on
the success of a business, learning the best way to adapt is instrumental to a business. It is
important that all stakeholders in a business scenario are conversant with the culture of a market
to best serve consumers in alignment with cultural strictures. Moreover, the assignment is an
opportunity to learn more about business relations to Islam.

Challenges
The challenge with this project and topic choice is integrating all aspects of Islam crucial
to the business in the presentation. Considering the nature of Islam, for instance, monotheism
and rejection of modernism, it is important that all these issues are sufficiently covered.
Lessons from the Project
Considering the representation of Islam in mainstream media in the recent past that has
been cited as inaccurate, the project will be an opportunity to learn the tenets of the religion that
are uncorrupted by bias.
