Description

ubmit a 2- to 3-page paper in which you do the following:

  • Explain ethical issues related to your Final Project research program intervention.
  • Explain whether these issues are actual or potential and provide a rationale for your answer.
  • Explain the level of privacy that would be required according to an IRB for participants in your Final Project research program intervention, and explain why.

Support your work with specific citations from this week’s Learning Resources and additional scholarly sources as appropriate. Refer to the Essential Guide to APA Style for Walden Students to ensure that your in-text citations and reference list are correct.

Data Sets
The data sets will contribute to the final project because it would provide substantial
insights with regards to the racial difference when it comes to mental health problems. Often,
individuals are not aware of the relationship between race and mental health. The data sets will
provide a significant contribution with regards to the manner in which African-American males
are overrepresented when it comes to mental health problems, and they lack openness to deal with
issues like depression. Lack of motivation to talk about their mental condition might be linked
with their underrepresentation and thus lacking someone with whom they can identify with.
Validity and reliability of data is a prerequisite for establishing
the trustworthiness of research findings. Reliability would usually result in repeated findings or
rather the consistency within the data set. This means in demonstrating how the lack of openness
and stigma contribute to the mental illness of African-American males, there are high ratios of
individuals who are African-American, and thus when a similar when similar findings are used
then it is possible to have same results. The validity of a data set is associated with the manner in
which the findings of research can be applied to the real world. In this case, the data sets in
demonstrating the way in which depression affect individuals of African-American origin. The
data provide a rationale as to why this is so. There is underrepresentation especially for the
minorities like African-American populations in psychological associations and institutions. The
data sets, therefore, offer a profound argument about the meaning of the proof generated. This
might be attained through peer debriefing and peer conformability (Driessen et al., 2005).
Furthermore, the data sets tend to be contributory to other research findings and thus adding on to
the general knowledge that existed before. It should have a significant contribution to the topic of
Wk5assign3
interest, for instance, it should help the target audience understand how underrepresentation has
adverse impacts on the openness of individuals. Things change, and secondary data might
experience historical limitations, information might be invalid due to changes in time. Therefore,
to overcome this limitation it is critical to making comparisons between the findings of the research
with the current study. In this way, it will be possible for an individual to overcome the issue of
using old results which might not have any use with regards to the current situation. Furthermore,
the statics in secondary data might reflect the biases of those in power and thus limiting what one
can find out. Some of the strategies in this way is to make comparisons from the previous study
which had the same topic of interests. This will include a myriad of studies to get a clear picture
of what is authentic.
The process of selecting data can significantly impact on the research integrity. The
primary objective of data selection is to enhance the determination of appropriate data type, source
as well as effective instruments. Data selection would usually involve a suitable procedure that
would improve the study to obtain a representative sample. Therefore, to contain bits of data, there
is a need for the investigator to undertake random sampling as a methodological procedure. Here
the purpose is to ensure that the source of the data is enough to represent the population, as the
audience would link reliability of data to the extent in which the sample represents the population
(Savenye & Robinson, 2004). First, it is critical to ensure that the sample is purposeful, that is the
sample can answer the research question. Secondly, it is essential to ensure that one has vital
informants that are individuals who can provide substantial information that would have
significant impacts on the findings of the research. Thirdly one can engage in snowball method
where one asks individuals to submit names of individuals who might provide the necessary
Wk5assign4
information. Finally, one can also participate in stratified finding where one can decide to choose
from the various sub-groups (Savenye & Robinson, 2004).
